FAQ
Before you write
A few of the most common questions are answered below.
How long until I hear back?
I reply within 2 to 3 days, usually sooner. Email is best, or send me a message on Instagram at @kaz_saw_this.
Where are you based, and can I visit?
I'm based in Melbourne and make my saws in my barn workshop at Porcupine Ridge, near Daylesford. My workshops are held at the Phoebe Everill Furniture Making School in Drummond. I'm not set up for visitors or pickups just yet, so everything goes by post.
How do I know what size handle I need?
Handles come in small (85mm), medium (90mm) and large (95mm), plus custom sizes. How to measure your hand walks you through it with a ruler held the way you hold a saw. If you are not sure, put your measurement in the message and I will help you work it out. At the workshops there are samples of each size to try.
How long does a commission take?
Around 12 to 16 weeks from when your deposit is paid, depending on the waitlist. I will give you a clearer idea once we have talked through the saw.
Do you post saws?
Yes, Australia-wide by AusPost registered post with signature on delivery, usually $20 to $35. Once it is posted, allow 3 to 6 business days. Delivery and returns are covered in my Terms of Sale.
Can you sharpen or restore my saw?
I am setting up a sharpening and retoothing service for backsaws. Send me a photo of the tooth line and I will tell you what it needs.
