Commissions

A saw made to fit your hand

Backsaws made to order, one at a time, sized to your hand and mostly in Australian timbers. Allow 12 to 16 weeks. Shipping within Australia.

Made to order

Three saws to choose from

All three are backsaws with a brass spine I make myself and brass split nuts on a 0.5 mm spring steel blade. Order one, a pair, or the full set of three, in matching or different timbers.

I price each saw once we've settled on the type, timber and size, so you know the cost before paying a deposit.

How it works

How a commission works

01

Enquiry

Email me. Tell me whether the saw is for you or a gift, and what you like to cut.

02

A chat

We talk it through by phone or email: saw type, handle size and timber.

03

Deposit invoice

I email a 50% deposit invoice with my terms of sale attached. Work starts once it's paid.

04

Hand measurement

Before I start, I need a photo of your hand measurement to confirm the size.

05

The build

Around 12 to 16 weeks from the deposit, depending on the waitlist. Not from the day you first wrote.

06

Balance invoice

When the saw is finished I email the balance invoice.

07

Posted to you

Once paid, your saw ships by AusPost within Australia.

Good to know

The build time runs from when the deposit is paid.

If you cancel before I've started, the deposit is refunded in full. Once a saw is under way, I take out the costs I've already put into it and refund the rest.

If you're not sure which saw you need, just ask.

Something personal

Have a piece of timber that belonged to someone special?

Not sure what to do with it? I'd love to turn it into a hand crafted saw with a personal connection and a history. A tool that reminds you of where or who it came from, and can be handed down. Your own useful heirloom.

Send me a photo and I'll tell you whether the piece could work. Not every timber suits a saw handle.

Start an enquiry

Tell me about the saw you want

Which saw, what size hand, and any timber you have in mind. If you're not sure, say so and we'll work it out together.

A deposit isn't needed until we've settled on the type, timber and size, and you know the price.
